Throughout the year we will be studying life science using a variety of activities such as, but not limited to, labs, projects and activities, diagrams, models, Cornell notes, videos, study skills, thinking maps, etc. We will be following the California State Standards for Life Science. Topics include, but are not limited to, The Metric System, Characteristics of Living Things, Plant and Animal Cells, Cell Division, Heredity/Genetics, Darwin's Theory and Evolution/Geologic Time, and Plant Reproduction.

 With cold/flu and allergy season upon us,I have so appreciated all the Kleenex donations as well as the school supplies from the cards on my door at back to school night! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!  I am now good for Kleenex but am on my last container of Anti Bacterial Wipes for the students to clean their desks and counters with. I will give 3 gold cards for one container of wipes up to 2 Containers/6 Gold Cards per student. Lysol or Clorox are well known brands but the store brands are good too. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR YOUR HELP (-: !!

*******REMEMBER YOUR VIDEO MUST BE SUBMITTED INTO THE CORRECT CLASS PERIOD AND BE THERE BY END OF NUTRITION TOMORROW!!! THAT IS AT 9:58 AM. NO EXCEPTIONS! Students will be viewing Flipgrid videos from classes other than their own periods and filling out a PEER POSITIVE REVIEW SLIP for each video they view. If your video is NOT there for another student in another class -who is assigned to review yours- then your score will be reduced by 15%.  
 
I cant wait to see ALL your video creations that will help us ALL CONSERVE OUR PRECIOUS CLEAN FRESH WATER (: !!!!!

HW Monday 3/5:

1. All Water Conservation Posters were due today in class for full credit except for students on the "Actively Trying to Win the Contest" List. Students may turn in Posters tomorrow for Late Credit. This Activity/Project is worth 25% of your current Grade in science class so PLEASE DO turn in a Water Poster to positively impact your current grade in my class. 
 
2. Start putting together your ideas for your Water PSA (Public Service Announcement) by completing each section of your First Plan Sheet you received in class today. Be sure to look at all the assignments we did for the Water Section of our folder and you may research more facts and data on line as well (be SURE you cite (write down the websites names and url addresses to give them credit for the information!!) 
***BE SURE TO START PRACTICING FILMING YOURSELF TALKING IN A "COMMERCIAL-IZED" STYLE VOICE AND TRY USING A CONVERSATIONAL METER (PACE,TONE AND STYLE) And try and not sound like you are reading a script or oral report. We will do some practice in class as well. 

Wed. 2/28 HW: Complete rough draft/ or start on Final Draft

***PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO WATCH THE VIDEO OF THE CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA FAMILY'S WATER CONSERVATION! They added a note: The City originally capped water use at 87 liters (23 gallons) per person per day, but on February 1, 2018 the city changed that amount to ONLY 50 LITERS OF WATER PER PERSON PER DAY!!!  THATS ONLY 13.23 GALLONS A DAY!! YIKES!! 
If you fixed your rough draft in class today and had it approved and received the Special Big White Paper then you can start on your Final draft for HW tonight :D! If you came to class with a rough draft that did not follow the theme for this years Water Poster then you had a chance to change or fix it in class today- if you were not done fixing it that is your HW tonight. If you came to class with NO rough draft then making one tonight and bringing it to class for approval tomorrow is your HW. Students will be able to work on posters in class all day tomorrow Thurs. 3/1 and Friday 3/2. If it is finished by end of class you can turn it in (:- If you need the weekend to finish then you can turn it in at the beginning of class on Monday 3/5 for full credit BUT NOT AFTER THAT. Those students who are actively trying to Win the Water Poster Competition (Grades 7-12 category) and Have ALREADY spoke to me regarding this, will get more time on their entries. I must say I have quite a group of talented students this year :D!! I think we will have quite a few that will catch the Judges Eyes!!!

These are The 7th grade science classes Wild About Saving Water Poster instruction and Basic Rules. The Rough draft (pencil only sketch) is due tomorrow Wednesday 2/28 for approval and to receive the special Rowland Water Districts poster paper the Final Draft Must Be Drawn On :)! Every students poster WILL BE SUBMITTED to the Contest. PLEASE BE SURE THAT THE STUDENTS NAME AND PARENTS NAME ARE PRINTED NEATLY ON THE BACK OF THE POSTER ! Also required in the rules ARE THE PARENTS SIGNATURE AND  PARENTS EMAIL ADDRESS CLEARLY WRITTEN ON THE BACK :) students will work on poster in classes everyday the rest of this week Posters are due at end of period Friday March 2nd or for those who need a little more time I will still accept them at the beginning of class on Monday 3/5, but not after that date.
