Online Class - March 16th to June 4th

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope this message finds you well.

Before we begin, I wanted to encourage everyone to stay calm and not to stress. It’s now clear that COVID-19 is a deadly serious global pandemic, and all necessary precautions should be taken. Still, C. S. Lewis’s words—written 72 years ago—ring with some relevance for us. Just replace “atomic bomb” with “coronavirus.”

"This is the first point to be made: and the first action to be taken is to pull ourselves together. If we are all going to be destroyed by an atomic bomb, let that bomb when it comes find us doing sensible and human things—praying, working, teaching, reading, listening to music, bathing the children, playing tennis, chatting to our friends over a pint and a game of darts—not huddled together like frightened sheep and thinking about bombs. They may break our bodies (a microbe can do that) but they need not dominate our minds."
“On Living in an Atomic Age” (1948) in Present Concerns: Journalistic Essays

This has been the perspective that I have been operating on for the past couple of weeks. My apologies to all parents and students who I may have caused additional stress by assigning work on Friday, March 13th. It was not my intentions at all. My hope was that these math assignments would keep students mind occupied with learning mathematics instead of the pandemonium. With that being said, starting on Tuesday, March 17th, I will assign tutorial videos along with questions to give students virtual learning opportunities. However, if for any reason, you cannot complete the extended learning opportunities on Google Classroom, please read the special note below.

*Special Note to all parents & students -
Assignments posted during these two weeks will not be graded. It is just a learning opportunity for students. If you do not have a device, please contact the school and we will provide one for you. All assignments, links, tutorial videos, and class updates will be posted on Google Classroom.

*Students whose parents did not subscribe to our Google Classroom updates -
Please share the above information with them. Or have them email me and I'll add them to our Google Classroom.
