Science 8 (Period 6) Assignments

Bottle Rockets assigned! Get into groups of 2 or 3. you may also work by yourself. Watch the following YouTube videos for ideas. You may also research more tutorials in order to make the best bottle rocket!

Be prepared to build on Monday/Wednesday.

Launches will be Thursday/Friday.

Watch Brainpop: Newton's Laws of Motion

Complete the worksheet. **Keep in mind what you've been doing with your force cars**

Then complete the Force calculations worksheet (gold)

Draw Free Body Diagrams in your science notebook. See the attached worksheets.

Also in class: Watch Brainpop: Forces and complete the Challenge (mountain graphic). A score of 18-20 is acceptable.

Today we made our LAST unit folders: Unit #10 FORCES

The first assignment was cornell notes on the following video:

No EQ was given. Simply tell write the title of the video where the EQ usually goes, usual notes, questions/key terms on the left, and write a summary of the video at the bottom (Minimum 3 sentences)

Please make sure you have these notes on comparing distance/time graphs and speed/times graphs.

All assignments need to be completed and ready to turn in on Friday. Lightbulb questions will be given and completed in class. Lightbulb questions will be your assessment.

In class, we drew a Venn Diagram to model the differences and similarities for Analog and Digital signals. We watched the following videos:

And proceeded to watch Brainpop: Analog and Digital Recording while completing the vocabulary page.

HONORS students were also required to watch and complete the worksheet on Brainpop: Binary

In class we watched parts of this video: Refraction in oil and water

Students then read about Absorption, Reflection, and Refraction. Students completed the attached worksheet on Reflection and Refraction.

Re-watch the Nearpod presentation from today to complete your notes.

In class, students wrote down what they "Knew" and "Wanted to Know" about Waves in a KWL chart in their science notebook. This was followed by watching Bill Nye: Waves and completing the video quiz worksheet (see attached)

Unit 7: Astronomy 

Includes all assignments for Galaxies, Stars, the Sun, Planets, and the Moon must be completed and ready to use for an assessment. 

Look up in the sky tonight and identify which phase the moon is in. To help you out, here are the videos we watched in class today:

We started Sun Station Rotations today. You must complete all stations and responses by Friday.

Watch Brainpop-Galaxies and complete the attached worksheet. In Google Classroom, click DONE when you have completed the worksheet.

Final Project due by end of day Thursday-or you can drop it by the school on Friday if needed. We will continue to work in class on this project. Be sure all parts are completed. HONORS: Individual Advertisement MUST be off the page as an iMovie, Prezi, Slideshow with voiceover, or other app with visual and sound voiceover.

Unit 5: Atoms Part 3 Notebook is due Monday, Nov. 28. 

First, copy the chart: "Identifying Ionic and Covalent Bonds" into your notebook (right side). Using a periodic table, complete the chart. You may need to refer back to notes on Ionic Bonds and Covalent Bonds.

Second, be sure the "Understanding Chemical Formulas" notes are in your notebook. And complete the 5 problems in the powerpoint (Chemistry Math 3) attached. Check your answers. **You will have more practice with counting atoms in class**
