Period 2 8th Grade Honors Science Assignments

Your stations lab sheets (inner and outer planets) should be stapled together and turned in. Also due on this day is the vocab (put in notebook), chemical reaction review, and wordsearch (extra credit). In order to receive extra credit for the wordsearch you MUST HAVE COMPLETED all other parts of the station activity, vocab, and review sheet. If you did not turn in a forces notebook last week that is also due.

Lab 9a, Force Problems, and the study guide - in other words the assignments for the previous week, are all due in class. Period 1 - due Monday, Periods 2, B, and D due on Tuesday. Remember there is a test on Chapters 13 and 14 on Tuesday!

The DNA pop bead lab that we did in class is due on Friday, 3/4. Remember that the drawing of your DNA strand must be in color or have ALL parts labeled. Honors students are also required to answer question 4 on page 4 using complete sentences. This requires some research done on your own.

 

 

You will have a test on Chapter 9 on Monday, 2/22. There will be 10 vocabulary matching questions, just like on the last test, as well as multiple and some constructed response.

The Brainpop worksheet for acids and bases is due tomorrow, Wednesday, 2/17.

Test corrections for the Chemical Reactions test are due on Tuesday, 2/16. Please remember to write your corrections on a separate sheet of paper and staple them to your test before handing them in.

Write a 4-5 sentence paragraph explaining how you can determine if a substance has undergone a physical change or a chemical change. Include examples. This goes on page 6 below the list you made in class. Think what the members of each list had in common.

Notebook Due and quiz on the periodic table. You must have notebook lightbulb questions 1,2, and 4 completed. If you complete question 3 you will be given extra credit.

Counting atoms worksheet, due on Tuesday, 12/15

Working alone or in groups, create a board game about the periodic table using the information that you have learned in class. These games will be used for several game days to review for the upcoming test on Dec 17th. Remember that your game should include the board, the player pieces, any dice/spinner needed and should be in a box with your game's name as well as the names of the people in your group. Due on Friday, Dec 11th.

Complete lightbulbs 1 and 2 in your science notebook. Due on Thursday, 12/10. Remember to include all relevant information as well as color pictures or diagrams.

Complete the circle map for our new unit - Periodic Table - including at least 6 words/phrases and two pictures.

 

You should also complete the classification activity that we started in class.

Complete lightbulb 4 which reads "compare a stable atom with an isotope of the same element. What is the relationship between radioactivity and isotopes." Remember that light bulbs must completely answer the question (both parts!), include relevant pictures or diagrams, and include color. Due tomorrow - Friday, November 20th.

Lightbulb Question #2 is due on Friday, November 13. Please remember that it must be answered completely, include relevant diagrams/illustration, and have color. A copy of the lightbulb questions is attached.

Test corrections for the States of Matter Test are due on Thursday, November 12th.  Retake tests for student who scored 13 points or lower will be on Thursday afternoon, 11/12. If you cannot make that date you will have to make special arrangements with me. Remember, the highest grade you can score on the retake is 14 points or 70%.
