7th Grade World History (Period D) Assignments

Monday: Study for Islam unit test; use review questions and quiz.

Tuesday: Finish terms for West Africa and Griot if necessary.

Wednesday: Read and Highlight Savanna reading

Thursday: Parent teacher conferences.

See you all on Thursday for conferences, especially those of you with a C or below.

All classes have an Islam quiz tomorrow on the terms and people to know from Chapter 3, lessons 1, 2, and 3. Honors: comic strip due. Periodd B and D, the Five Pillars project is due.

All classes but period E need to be working on their Five Pillars of Islam project. For periods B and F, it is due on Friday. A, C, and D are due tomorrow, Thursday. Please read the directions carefully and absolutely no stick figures! :)

All notebooks, (Medieval Notebook), and Terms to know for Islam. Last grades before the 1st quarter grades go in on Friday.

All classes except for period F have notebooks and "Decorating the Middle Ages" worksheet due tomorrow.

All students need to complete the Checkpoint #1 study guide. This means both sections; Rome and Medieval Europe.

Complete the Fight for the Holy Land worksheet.

All students will be working on their foldables or essays, (honors). The foldable needs to have a summary for the life of a serf, a summary for the life of a homeless person today, and an opinion, (5 paragraphs), on which person has a better overall situation, the serf or the homeless today. All students should have a sample with directions in their binders. The honors class has a flee map to organize their essays. All essays will need to be typed, 12 pt font, 1.5 spacing, 5 complete paragraphs, with a visual at the top or as the background.

No homework unless you are redoing your medieval map. Period B, serf response questions.

All classes read the Serf reading and answer the questions on the lesson worksheet in complete sentences. Period B only has the reading. They will do the lesson questions tomorrow.

The map for Medieval Europe can be redone if the grade is not at a 75% and turned in on Wednesday, September 25th. People to Know terms need to be finished for Tuesday, September 24th.

All classes finish the maps. Go over the pencil with ink, carefully. Follow the directions on the back to shade regions and outline boundaries.

All classes except period B, are to do People to Know, the first six for the Medieval unit. All classes will have unit notebooks due except Honors. Period A, no page 7, Period F, no page 9. Honors has the Clovis reading and questions.

All classes except period F need to be working on their study guide for Rome. Period F is finishing the Byzantine reteaching worksheet for the reading lesson. Test on the Rome unit is Monday, Sept. 16th.

All students except for period F, complete the reteaching worksheet for the Byzantine Empire handed out in class.

All classes need to finish the 10 theories for the fall of the Roman Empire if they were not finished in class. In addition, all classes, but period F, are to be identifying the theory and why they think so for the fall of Rome that best describes the political cartoon on the corresponding worksheet. Period E needs to identify the theory and the similarities/differences as modeled in class, for all cartoons, (other classes, just the first 3).

All classes are responsible for the first 5 theories for the fall of the Roman Empire. See the attachment.
All classes are to remind their parents that Back to School night is Wednesday, September 11th.

Finish People to Know and study for quiz. The quiz covers chapter 2 lesson 1 in the textbook. In addition, the terms and people that were discussed in class will be on the quiz. They include the following: republic, empire, Pax Romana, mosaic, stoicism, aqueduct, Augustus, emperor, Julius Caesar, and Hannibal.

All students are to do questions 2-5, (7 for honors), on page 51. Be sure to write the question and answer them in complete sentences, in your neatest writing, without beginning with the words it, he, she, they, since, or because.

Terms to know, which can be found at the bottom of the Rome cover page in the Interactive Notebook, are past due. If you did not complete them, they must be turned in tomorrow.

All classes are responsible for obtaining an Alvarado Planner if they did not get one at registration. This is imperative for the overall academic success of my students. The homework for the week is as follows:

Tuesday: Geography terms, continent worksheet, cardinal directions and hemispheres sheets.
Wednesday: Latitude and hemispheres worksheets. Additional vocabulary.
Thursday: Longitude and coordinate worksheets. World Maps completed. Spiral Notebooks, 11X81/2 due Friday!
Friday: Review for geography map and term test on Monday.
