7th Grade English (SDAIE) (Period D) Assignments

"What's in my Backpack" poster is due tomorrow, Tuesday, May 6th.  Be sure you have included all of the criteria on the checklist.  You will be presenting your poster to the class also, on Tuesday.  In addition, you will have a vocabulary test on Chapters 7-9 on Tuesday, May 6th.

Be sure you understand the meanings and usage of the vocabulary words on your Hunger Games list from Chapters 7-9.  You will have a test on their correct usage on Tuesday. Study tonight.

"What's in Your Backpack" # 1-3 due Friday, May 2nd.

Hunger Games Character Analysis due.  Chapter 7-9 questions are also due, if you did not turn them in during class on Wednesday.

Hunger Games Chapters 1-9 notes are due, stapled together in order.

Test on Hunger Games Chapters 5 and 6 vocabulary.  "Building a Better World" worksheet is due on Friday, April 25th.

Your ballad is due on Thursday, April 17th.  The assignments is to write a ballad based on the letter from the lord to his wife.  Be sure to follow the ballad requirements from the lesson in class.  The three stanza quatrains, with an aaab rhyme scheme, and 7-8 syllables per line are due on Thursday, April 17th.  If you present it to the class to music, you will receive extra credit points.

Tuesday night, study the Hunger Games study guides for Vocabulary Chapters 1 and 2, as well as the Allusions, Terminology, and Sayings study guide.  You will be tested on these on Wednesday, April 16th.

Animal Farm 6 paragraph argument essay is to be submitted on MyAccess by Monday, April 14th.  You have 5 submissions for editing, and I will take your highest score.  Use My Editor to help you to make corrections.  Be sure to use your two plan sheets to help you organize your essay.

Hunger Games word search is due on Wednesday, April 9th.  This will familiarize you with the names and terms in the novel as we begin reading the Hunger Games.

Final Exam on Animal Farm will be on Wednesday, April 9th.  Be sure to study the Study Guide in preparation for the test.

Animal Farm green worksheet on the video (fill-in side and the back side, as well) is due on Thursday, March 27th.

Be sure you have completed both the Animal Farm Character Trait worksheet, Part A and Part B # 1 and 2, as well as the Argument Map with the character traits you plan to use in your argument essay.  These are due on Tuesday, March 25th.

Animal Farm research worksheet is due on Tuesday, March 18th.  You need to have the 7 definitions of the government/economic systems, as well as a minimum of 3 examples for each.

Joan of Arc final animated sequence due.  Be sure you've answered the who, what, when, where, why, and how and that you've answered the question . . .  "Who was responsible for Joan of Arc's death?"

Honors Final Project:  Travel Brochure is due on Thursday, March 13th.  Be sure to follow the directions on p. 15 and p. 16 of your packet.

Castle diorama summarizing your research on the daily life of your medieval character is due on Monday, March 10th.

Something Wicked essay is due at the end of the period on Thursday.  Be sure you have gone to "My Editor" to help you with corrections.  You need a minimum score of 4.0, which is a C-.  You have 5 submissions to try to improve your score.

Your Something Wicked similarities/differences worksheet is due on Monday, March 3rd.  You must have differences noted for plot, characters, resolution.  In addition, you should have notes on the effects of lighting, sound, color, and camera focus that you noticed in the movie.  You will begin your 6 paragraph essay on MyAccess on Monday.

Irregular Verb worksheet p. 97 is due on Monday, March 3rd.  There will be a test on Irregular verbs on Tuesday, March 4th.

Record on your charts, the similarities and differences between the novel and the film that you viewed today.  Tomorrow and Wednesday you will be doing the same thing.  These notes will be used in writing a 6 paragraph compare/contrast essay next week; therefore, taking thorough and detailed notes will make it much easier to compose your essay.

Thursday is the last day to turn in missing work for full credit before Progress Reports are submitted.  Take advantage of the opportunity to improve your English grade!

Be sure you understand the strategies we worked on this week in order to be successful on the Performance Task #1.  See me if you have any questions.  We will begin the testing on Tuesday, and will continue through Friday, if needed.  I know you all will do a great job!
