Monthly Bulletin #8—May & June, 2016

Message from the Principal:

As our school year is quickly coming to the end, what an incredible experience it is to look back at the many opportunities and experiences we’ve shared during the 2015-2016 year!  We have the best students and families at Alvarado and this is what makes our school a great place to learn.  Our school’s faculty and staff work very hard to provide our students with the very best education possible and I’m so thankful for everyone’s work and effort. We still have work to do to finish the school year, so I encourage all students to continue to keep coming to school and on time until our last day which is Thursday, June 2, 2016.  This will be a minimum day with student dismissal at 12:28pm.

Longevity Presentation for Years of Service and Employee of the Year

Congratulations to the following staff who have served our school or the District for 10 to 30 years. Their dedication and commitment have made a positive impact on our students’ achievement.  The District will have a longevity presentation to honor their many years of service to the district and school.

Tuesday, May 31:

It is hard to believe that the year is almost over. To celebrate our 8th graders, the PTSA has been working hard to provide activities for the 8th graders. To kick off the celebration, all 8th graders ( that are not on the exclusion list*) are invited to participate in a trip to Knott’s Berry Farm on Tuesday, May 31.  The cost of the trip is $31 per student and PTSA is picking up the cost of transportation.

*students are placed on the exclusion list due to gpa, discipline, attendance, and fines.

Wednesday, June 1:

7th and 8th graders will attend a recognition assembly in the morning.  Parents of students who will be receiving an award will receive an invitation in the mail. 8th grade assembly is from 7:48am-9:50am and 7th grade from 10:05am-11:10am.

All parents of 7th and 8th graders are invited to join their student for lunch!  We will have food trucks on campus and parents can treat their student to a special lunch. Information on what trucks will be available soon.

Afterschool there will be a special dance for all eligible* 8th graders. The dance will be held after school from 2:30-4:00pm in the cafeteria.

Thursday, June 2

All students will participate in the annual talent show on the last day of school.  There will be opportunity drawings for students with gold cards at the show.  Yearbooks will also be distributed!  At the end of the day, 8th graders will receive their promotion certificates in their last class.
